Reading Homework
Read at least 5-10 minutes every evening at home. Every week on Tuesday and Friday the children will pick new books at school and bring them home to read to you. Please return their book bag on Mondays and Thursdays. If your child is in the middle of reading a book, he or she can keep it at home until done with it. We will find a different book for he or she to read at school.
Here are some suggestions to help your child when he or she is having difficulty reading by him/herself:
· As you read, point to each word to make the oral language and print connection
· Use picture clues
· Cover part of the word and try reading by parts
· Pretend to read it the wrong way and ask them if it makes sense
